Private Recovery Coaching for Professionals

Private recovery coaching tailored to your experiences, responsibilities, and goals.

A person can be capable, accomplished, and respected while privately struggling with substance dependence, trauma, or emotional distress.

-  You may have been able to continue working, leading, travelling, parenting, or carrying significant responsibility while privately struggling. From the outside, your life may have appeared successful and functional, while internally you were relying increasingly on alcohol or other substances or unhealthy coping behaviours to manage stress, emotional pain, trauma, exhaustion, or disconnection.

-  You may have recently completed residential or outpatient treatment and now wondering how to translate what you learned into everyday life. Alternatively, you may never have attended a rehabilitation program but recognise that your relationship with alcohol, another substance, or an unhealthy coping behaviour is no longer sustainable.

Private Recovery Coaching provides thoughtful, trauma-informed education and practical support tailored to your personal circumstances, professional responsibilities, and preferred pathway to recovery.

BOOK A SESSION

Recovery that reflects the life you actually live

Recovery does not occur separately from work, family, travel, leadership, or established responsibilities.

Generic advice may not adequately address the realities of:

-  Returning to a demanding professional role after treatment.

-  Managing workplace events where alcohol is present.

-  Travelling regularly while maintaining recovery routines.

-  Protecting privacy in a visible or high-responsibility position.

-  Rebuilding trust within important relationships.

-  Managing stress, trauma responses and emotional dysregulation.

-  Developing a meaningful life beyond professional achievement.

-  Finding appropriate support without adopting a recovery model that does not feel right for you.

Support is tailored to your individual circumstances, life experience, recovery journey and professional responsibilities. Your sessions will reflect your background, responsibilities, relationships, recovery history and current support network.

Rather than following a standardised program, sessions are adapted to your experiences, priorities, responsibilities, and recovery goals. Each session is individually tailored to recognise the complexity of your life, including your professional responsibilities, personal relationships, recovery experience and existing supports.

Your recovery support is designed around your circumstances, strengths, challenges, and the life you are working to rebuild.

Who this service is for

Private Recovery Coaching may be suitable for individuals who:

  • Want to stop or substantially change their use of or relationship to alcohol or other substances.
  • Have completed residential treatment and want support with the transition home.
  • Are in early or established recovery and feel they need greater structure or direction.
  • Have remained professionally functional while privately struggling.
  • Want a thoughtful alternative to highly prescriptive recovery models.
  • Are attending therapy or recovery meetings but need help applying insights to daily life.
  • Recognise that trauma, stress or emotional pain may be connected to their substance use.
  • Want to rebuild their identity, relationships, wellbeing, and sense of purpose.
  • Value privacy, personal responsibility, and intelligent, non-judgmental support.

You do not need to have attended rehabilitation or received a formal diagnosis to access the service.

How recovery coaching can help

Recovery coaching combines practical planning, psychoeducation, accountability, and lived-experience-informed support.

Sessions may explore:

Understanding your recovery patterns

Develop greater awareness of cravings, triggers, emotional states, high-risk situations, and the role substance use has played in your life.

Developing a personal recovery structure

Create routines, supports and practical strategies that can be maintained alongside your professional and personal responsibilities.

Trauma-informed recovery

Understand how trauma, chronic stress, shame, hypervigilance, emotional overwhelm or disconnection may affect your recovery.

The focus is on present-day understanding, stabilisation, and practical coping. You will not be asked to describe traumatic experiences in detail.

Returning to professional life

Prepare for workplace pressures, business travel, professional events, leadership responsibilities and questions from colleagues.

Strengthening emotional regulation

Develop grounding, nervous-system awareness, and practical strategies for managing distress without returning automatically to old coping patterns.

Navigating relationships

Consider how recovery affects trust, communication, boundaries, intimacy, and family expectations.

Exploring recovery pathways

Review professional treatment, peer-support groups, twelve-step fellowships, and other recovery resources without being pressured into one model.

Rebuilding identity and purpose

Move beyond an identity defined only by work, substance use or treatment and begin developing a life that feels meaningful and worth protecting.

A multiple-pathways approach

There is no single recovery pathway that is appropriate for every person.

Your recovery plan may include a combination of:

  • Individual therapy or counselling
  • Medical and psychiatric support
  • Twelve-step fellowships
  • Peer-support communities
  • Medication
  • Exercise and physical wellbeing
  • Mindfulness and nervous-system regulation
  • Creative, spiritual or reflective practices
  • Rebuilding relationships and community
  • Values-based goals and meaningful work

Where helpful, sessions can include neutral education about Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and other twelve-step fellowships.

This service is not affiliated with AA, NA, or any other twelve-step organisation. It is not a sponsor–sponsee relationship, does not replace sponsorship and does not involve taking clients through the Twelve Steps.

The purpose of twelve-step familiarisation is to help you understand the model and make an informed decision about whether any part of it may be useful to you.

Take the next step

You do not need to have everything resolved before asking for support.

A Recovery Strategy Session can help you understand where you are, identify what may be placing your recovery at risk and decide what type of support would be most useful.
